Was checking Mark Evanier’s blog – Something I really don’t do often enough – And came across a post where he was talking about how the late Lorenzo Music had recorded literally hundreds of lines to be used at the end of the opening credits sequence for Garfield & Friends, some of which got them into trouble.

Is it just me, or does Mrs. Dillsworth look a whole lot like golden-age cross-dressing hero “Madam Fatale” …?

I’d link to an image to shore up the comparison, but I can’t because … well … you know … reasons …

Didn’t watch tonight’s debate, because I knew it would be ugly. Not “Your Policies Don’t Make Sense” ugly, but “So’s Your Old Man” ugly.

We’ve reached a low point in civil discourse.

There’s a Lee/Romita Spider-Man piece which they’d done for a then-current magazine, where Spidey is swinging past billboards featuring the 1972 presidential candidates, and says something along the lines of, “In a country of 200 million, are we sure these are the best we can do?”

Imagine how Spidey would feel today.

And this might be the new normal moving forward.

What scares me the most is that it’s now acceptable to express hate and contempt towards other races/creeds/sexes.

Hate is perhaps the easiest human emotion to galvanize into action. People have been making book on that for a long time.

Something feels different about this particular news cycle though. Years and years of fanning those flames of hate – as Bellowthon is doing – is yielding a conflagration.

It’s gone beyond a cheap tactic to extort campaign funding.

.

And it’s unlikely to cool down, even after the election is done.

You’re lucky to be in Canada, Neil. Some days this place here don’t make a whole lick’o sense.

In a way, this reminds me of the scam Brush was pulling in 1962 – the story that ran just before Chester Gould introduced the Space Coupe. It’s in the latest IDW book, although I think the next book is soon to be released.

SPOILER ALERT!

Brush was cashing in on the fear about radioactive fallout and collecting cash donations from folks who had heard about the atomic bomb but didn’t really understand it. Of course, he wasn’t a politician, just running a private scam using the mails and brochures, etc. But he had amassed a huge pile of cash before things went wrong and he had to run.

Maybe that’s what Bellowthon and Selfy are pulling here.

It appears that Congressthing Bellowthon is happily willing to exploit the old to get quick access to their off-the-books monies. There may be a couple of actionable crimes involved here….

Imagine that a sizable minority of Lunarians belonged to a cult with a deep religious commitment to kill or enslave all Earthlings, so that Lunarians can rule the earth. You can’t tell just by looking which Lunarians belong to this cult. That is closer to today’s dilemma.

Is Mrs. Dillsworth actually using a candle in a hurricane lamp for light, or is that just for atmosphere?

Down to 3 or 4 times a day, she’s practically a virgin!

I woudn’t be surprised if it turns out that Bribery is behind this. He could easily convince Bellowthon to front for him with all the money she could get from contributions. Bribery could do what he wants with the moon maids through the bill.
