The reason there is no government action is that the more profits go up, the more the tax revenue, the less need for a tax increase. That makes the party controlling the Congress happy.
This is a prime example of capitalism shooting itself in the foot. They chose to maximize revenue and profit and ignored the potential of destroying their corporate brand. Investors in Mylan should be outraged and fire those at the top. They did something stupid, immoral, and very damaging to the company. Hopefully the government will come out of it’s stupor long enough to finally pass some laws on prescription drugs. Medicare should be able to competitively bid on medication in the US. Then perhaps we wouldn’t be paying thirty percent more than people in other countries.
A huge amount of medical research is funded by the government (i.e by individual taxpayers and one or two corporations who forgot to move overseas). Yet oddly enough Big Pharma keeps all the resulting money for themselves…..
Big Pharma does not keep all the money for themselves, they give a lot to politicians for protection. If you want to know who provides the most protection, just follow the money. For instance, through the end of 2015 they had given Hillary Clinton $336,416 and Donald Trump $1,010.
Yep, the political elite gets paid off and big corps do their best to keep them in power. That goes for all the political elite, whatever name they use (socialist, progressive, liberal or conservative).
This is why we need to stop regulations. Why should any business have to worry about competition or fair pricing? Besides, other industries have made sure bee populations are declining thanks to GMOs, so what do those poor cry babies have to worry about? It’s not like a rich person is going to die because of this.

Sometimes you need to see if the model being used is accomplishing its intended mission.
