I just set it out someplace I’m not going to grow anything and let nature take it’s course. Can be interesting to see how long that takes.

I never had that problem. My jack o’ lanterns would always disappear from our porch before Hallowe’en was over.

Set him out in a distant corner of the backyard and watch him slowly become squirrel food. Or watch his face slowly melt. Whichever comes first.

Just talk to it as you would with Charlie Brown. There isn’t much difference.

My dad always tossed our jack o’lanterns after Halloween. He said it was either that, or keep them around until they rotted.

In the sixties, mom let us carve the pumpkins the day before Halloween. The day after, she would peel them, remove the bits with candle wax, chop them up and make pumpkin pies.

Funny that people never do that anymore. They were good.

This followed up with a Sunday that Peppermint Patty turned the pumpkin into a pie.

If it was freshly cut, give it to grandma and she can make pies out of him..

How do you tell a pumpkin you don’t need him anymore?

    I usually do it with a trebuchet…

better be careful with some of the suggestions P.P. – someone might take a picture and post it on social media for all the country to be divided as to whether what you did was fair to the pumpkin.of course the upside may be that you get a million likes or hits or followers!!!!!

I always think that it is sad to see rotting Halloween pumpkins on people’s porches and time has marched on. Pumpkins still rotting away at Thanksgiving. Makes a nice decoration for people when they approach your door.

Halloween evening, I put left over candle wax in it, with a little bit of used motor oil. A old rag or something, I then light it and it burns for hours…I call it the flaming pumpkin. It is amazing how long a pumpkin shell will burn when the inside is black carbon and it is hard and dried out. Eventually the top will collapse and problem solved.

It also helps to scare people too. Don’t over do it though, one year I had flame 8 feet high. Took a few tries to get the formula just right to burn long enough but not all night.
