The Louisiana Governor asked national political figures NOT to come during the rescue effort because the photo ops take time and people away from the actual rescue work. Get over it, Obama haters!
Better to stay away and let FEMA and the folks do their jobs, not provide POTUS security. Even “W” was smarter to just fly over after his appointees totally screwed up with plenty of advance warning BEFORE Katrina hit. This flooding was unexpected and a completely different case, but FEMA WAS on the job right away.
Fewer vacation days of any president in the modern era.Got far more aid to Louisiana far faster than Bush did in Katrina.Stayed away after consulting with governor, in order to avoid distractions and pulling first responders away from important work..Yep, it’s a metaphor for his entire presidency.
