Get married, now, then repeat the vows on the scheduled date and have a party. . He might also be thinking in terms of a wedding planner or assistant (hopefully not TJ), but Tiffany would be quite good at that job. Tiff would love fussing over all that girly stuff.

And to make the 9/11 wedding come about, they had to recon Brad into acting like a detail-oriented prissy freak (“table placement”???) instead of the slob that he has always been shown to be. A poor concept, poorly executed.

Grab Nancy and Frank and Luann, Shannon and TJ, and get a quick bridal dress and Maid of Honor dress, and two Men’s Wareehouse tuxedos, then get married at CIty Hall, assuming they have the marriage license. These are Toni’s family now anyway, or the only one she knows. Done!! And Shannon gets to throw flowers over everywhere, as someone else suggested. Then they can face life together, including Toni’s brother situation.

I just don’t get the “elopement” buzz here. Doesn’t that mean to run away secretly with each other in order to skip the parental consent part? None of that seems relevant. And isn’t September 11 still problematic because of job conflicts? So that leaves us with 1) J.P. quickie, 2) small intimate wedding with close family only or, my favorite, 3) loving civil ceremony conducted by T.J. with entertainment provided by the DUO of Jonah and Shannon. yay ….

I would rather see a wedding because there could be so many things done/said with the other characters as they witness the wedding. Also I love bridal gowns. Plus, having had a very small wedding my first time, I did not have the joy of having pictures (did not have video then) to look back on. By the 2nd time I had children so were able to have “first family pictures” which they could do with Shannon (even if they adopt her later on she will have memories of being part of the beginning of their family)

Well, i could be wrong or i could be right, but ever since Toni suggested the Fuse for their wedding i have been expecting a fun, slightly to somewhat informal wedding there for these two. To heck w the deposit on Cottage 4 2. In three months of Luanniverse time (less?) something fun could be put together there. Time will tell and meanwhile we get a fun ride in getting wherever we are going.

Frank… regarding the comment you left for me yesterday:I actually do have a pretty robust sense of humor in my day-to-day life. I had hoped and thought some of it at least percolates through here in the comments, but I do admit that I am a bit more careful in my attempts at humor here. For me, I have seen often how electronic communication has some distinctive pitfalls inherent in it, that makes intended meanings by authors sometimes difficult to “pick-up”I know that my own abilities to express humor electronically are less than perfect, and so I tend towards more earnest (perhaps overly earnest?) communication electronically because I feel more successful in imparting what I really mean. When I do find ways I feel I can successfully interject my (somewhat odd, somewhat dry) humor in my electronic communication, I do… but sometimes I shy away a bit because I fear my humor could be misconstrued and inadvertently hurt someone’s feelings…. which is never my intention. So, I guess, in a nutshell…. I feel less confident in my abilities to write out my humor successfully…. and so I probably don’t seem as “humorous” here as I (hope I) do seem in real life. As far as my avatar (which you also asked about)…. it is actually no one famous, but it was painted by Van Gogh and is entitled “Portrait of an Old Man with Beard”. I chose it because it damn near looks like it actually IS a portrait of me. My wife even was surprised when I first showed it to her.

Hmmmm, i notice that a couple of people who chronically appear to complain (yet sometimes their clarifications read better and less as complaints) are not only postulating but going into complaints about the author – NOT about what is actually appearing in the strip but instead how that interacts with the hypotheses they themselves have advanced. That is rather like borrowing trouble since none of us know if the ideas they are advancing will actually come to pass. You do realize (or do you not?) that until we know if your postulations are correct it is more accurate to admit that you are complaining in large part about your own postulations rather than about the strip, right?

elopement in his original intended meaning, meant someone running away never to comeback with the lover (usually to get married, but sometimes if one or both are already married, to simply live together ) but today usually we talking about avoiding big wedding and its cost and having only a very small party ( from 2 unknown people as witnesses to usually biggest party of witnesses being a dozen as in family and/or very close friends )

I was married on 9-11-82. On 9-11-01, of course like the rest of the world we were horrified. We had actually gone to a concert the Saturday before, as a pre-anniversary gift. We were planning additional activity on the week-end following. On 9-11-02, we went out for an anniversary celebration dinner. We REFUSED to not celebrate on OUR anniversary. To do anything else in our thinking, was , and IS letting those bastards win something from us all. Our Anniversary predated the awful events of the day by 18 years. If anyone had asked on 9-11, even now about our celebrating ANYTHING i would tell them the same, and tough if they don’t like it. We are not being selfish. we are taking a stand.

FYI, NO ONE has ever questioned us.

I am not so sure that Toni would be all that “giddy” if she had mom, sisters, etc to get excited with. I wonder if it is just in someone’s nature or not. Sort of a giddy-gene. My ex-wife had 4 sisters, an enthusiastic mother, and tons of girl friends. So we had a quiet wedding on the beach with only one witness and the minister!

Wow! The definitive word today appears to be “jump” with some people jumpy and some people jumping to conclusions. The second can be cured with time when we see which guesses were right or wrong. For the second, perhaps a number of us are under added pressures right now and just need a bit of gentleness not only from others but from ourselves, as well as perhaps a reminder to treat others that way, too. There do seem to be some who are picking fights without cause or even triggers. Jump much?

Don’t get lung cancer or have a heart attack if you still use tobacco. High School golf teammates of mine have dropped dead; major girlfriend in summer of ’68 dead from lung cancer 11 years ago, and all of my parents and step-parents dead from tobacco use.I sympathize with you. My mother was a heavy smoker for as long as I could remember. We all tried to get her to quit, but she’d stubbornly refuse. She finally did quit in 1989, but the damage had already been done. She passed away on July 15, 1992. The last day I saw her alive was the day she went to the hospital on June 30 of that year. (She requested that I not visit her, as she didn’t want me to see her dying.)
