The response to “thank you” is never “thank you.” There are many ways to respond but they should all start with “you’re welcome.” Anything else (like “my pleasure”) denigrates the one doing the initial thanking.
A note written on a card which has been hand drawn/ painted or otherwise crafted deserves a verbal or written thank-you. The card also deserves to be displayed.

It’s called old-fashioned correspondence. No reason needed, but a thank you for a thank you is certainly an adequate excuse!
