My email to moderator:You banned Beviek? That is like banning George Washington. She has been a stalwart of certain comics for many years, posting funny things that extend the humor of the strips. You ought to be paying her.

My email to the moderator:We can’t function without Bev. She is the start to all our comics, she sets the style, tone, and direction we take in our posts.You’ve made a mistake, let her go, please.

There needs to be an explanation, and maybe even a mea culpa on behalf of the mods as she is reinstated.

I’m so bummed that I don’t think that I’ll even comment on the rest of the strips today.

At the risk of not sticking with the prevailing tone;

It looks as if the experimenter has become the experimentee.

I don’t believe it. Shocking. Anyone who would ban Beviek is capable of anything. Absolutely disgraceful.

It’s not that GoComics doesn’t care what we think…well, OK, it’s not entirely that they don’t care…They do have guidelines, but they generally don’t worry about activities not prohibited by the Terms of Service, or TOS…

BUT… there are some posters, especially on another forum, but even a couple who pop in here, who complain vociferously about all the pictures Bev posts…

They threaten to write to GoComics….which they probably have done, and angrily.I really think that’s part of it.

There are also a couple of people who have posted that they write GoComics and complain…mostly in an effort to stop ONE person whose posts they don’t like…about everybody who makes multiple or lengthy comments, or posts anything irrelevant to the strip. That exceedingly wide, random net would also catch Bev…and the Ballard Street birthday parties…and maybe the forums where people go specifically to chat…and one of these days, it will catch me too!

You know that saying, “The squeaky wheel gets the grease?”

Well, how many people have written to GC, just to say “Gee, you know that poster called Beviek? Well, I just love all the pictures she posts. Thanks so much for having her here.”

Probably none.All they hear is the complaints…and that’s what they act on.

So in my message to the mods I mentioned that I also enjoy the pictures Bev posts, and so do many other people in the forums.

Meanwhile, Bev and I are in regular contact.

If you’re on the birthday invitation list, mine or StelBel’s, you got a message from me earlier today with the moderator address…. if I hear anything, I’ll write again and post in the forums, especially here.

And once again, if you’re NOT on the birthday list, and would like to be…or just want to be in contact, in case YOU can’t get on GoComics….I can’t promise speedy or frequent correspondence, but my e-mail address is posted on the forum for the “Agnes” comic strip of June 6th, 2006.

I’ve just sent my email to the regular contact so I’m not sure if that’s the Moderators address (not easy as I’m not that tech-savy) see below.

I am very disappointed to hear that you have banned Beviek. I’ve been coming to your site now for nearly 7 years and I have seen numerous instances where people have been banned. On many occasions, it seems that no reason or explanation is given. This sort of arbitrary punishment is unfair and unjust and to inflict this kind of penalty without an explanation is indefensible, cruel and mean-spirited.

Beviek is very well liked on the comic pages that she visits and she adds to the fun and enjoyment of the whole experience. I’m just shocked that you would treat a nice lady like Beviek in such a hard-hearted and callous fashion. She’s a Grandmother, for goodness sake, and a very regular supporter of Gocomics.I understand that this is a commercial site and you feel that you can act in any way that you like but you must realize that you have a responsibility to the people who patronize your pages and you should try to behave in a fair and decent manner. I ask that you reinstate Beviek and reconsider your policy of summary banishment.

I’ll probably be banned too now. Cheers.

Be patient, I hope they let come back to us in a short while.Susan is right, GC doesn’t care what we think, unless it a complaint against PC policies.Of the two times I got kicked off, I was given one reply from a mod. SomeONE got me banned for using * to complete a word. The other time I was treated with ignore.Anyway, hurry back Bev!!!

Let me first comment on my good friend bev and her being banned.

The frustration on her part and ours is that the Overlords of GoComics will never reveal their reason for arbitrarily banishing someone. All we can do is mindlessly speculate and petition the moderators without knowing what the offense purportedly was.

I find GoComics totally arbitrary in meting out punishments and remains one of the major reasons over the years I have not gone Pro.

I agree with Susan that all we can do is wait and I also agree that it is a vociferous nasty few who have caused the problems – mostly out of jealousy and envy.

The above pretty well sums up my comments emailed to the moderators.

this will be a barren place without her and us who do come to see her posts. She could open her own site. get a free forum Bev, sans moderators :D

Since Bev is not able to be here to brighten our day with her wonderful pictures, I’ll post some in her honor. (They won’t be nearly as good as hers, but not many are)

You people should consider how much space Bev’s pictures take up in the companies harddrives too. One of her pictures takes up more storage space than a whole lot of text replies on here do. They may have simply got tired of her wasting their hard drive space.
