I had a periodontist who’d have you select what cd’s you’d like to listen to, prior to going in. You were then furnished with a headset and could listen to your favorites as he proceeded to slice and dice your gums.
The idea was that the music took your mind off the pain he was inflicting on you. WRONG !!!
50 years ago my Dentist enjoys weekends at a local FM at a local FM station in Merriam KS spinning records on his folk music show. Even had me play my 5-string banjo live on air.
He was a HI-Fi geek with latest equipment, & during dental work gave me ear phones full of classical music, or big band jazz. Enjoyed having dental work in such a positive relaxing situation. He was also a master in pain free dental procedure.
I also have the vinyl and CD of the Door’s Soft Parade. Mine are both in the same order. Are you perhaps listening to the CD on an mp3 player or similar device? They have a tendency to play the songs in alphabetical order, which bugs me to no end, especially when listening to concept albums.
Feel lucky, Lynn! I know mine and my ex-husbands numbers: social security, driver’s license, DOB, etc… I can even tell you my phone number from 50 years ago: 864-6572 (what area code, I don’t recall).

My dentist used to have the local station playing…one day, as he was giving a patient Novocaine, the song “Some Beach” came on…the part about giving the shot….next visit, there was another station playing!!!,
The Background Music industry used to have a Tape Player that would switch from one tape to another between songs so that, even though it played the Same 8 tapes, the Sequence never repeated.That made it Seem as if there were a Lot more tunes than there really were.And, of course, you could also have extra cartridges and swap them around every couple weeks just by popping them out and popping in a different cartridge.

Tis true. I had the vinyl of Door’s Soft Parade which I replaced with CD. The CD does not have the songs in same order. It bugs me.
