We had taken the grandsons to the state fair and we were sitting at a picnic table eating ice cream. My 7 year old grandson announced to us loudly that his mother had forgotten to pack him enough underwear and he was going to have to go commando tomorrow. The guy across from us nearly spit out his ice cream! I assured the grandson that Grandma would make sure he had underwear for the morning. When the guy left, he told me that was the most fun he’d had all day!
I’m so surprised how many remarks here say “me too”. I would think it would be uncomfortable having ‘your junk’ not secure. Without a bra I’d knock myself unconscious.
Thanks for the explanation! I’d always wondered about how the term originated. Makes sense. My brother is the only combat vet that I know well, and he was a medevac helicopter pilot in Nam, so didn’t have quite the same situation as foot soldiers.

Where I came from, it means not wearing underwear.

Never mind that. What does “we’re” mean?

It means his pants are going through the wash cycle twice.

@pacopuddy daDoctor means why is the doc also going commando? Why “we’re” instead of “you’re”

was the doctor talking to Nelson, or his MOTHER!?

Kings say “we” and mean “I”. Doctors say “we” and mean “you”. I have no idea why.

I really don’t get this, how would the doctor see Nelson isn’t wearing underwear by looking in his mouth?

Nurses come into your hospital room and ask “how are we doing today?”
