With their admission that these hearings are stricktly motivated to keep Hillary Clinton out of the White House, the Republicans have gone from shooting themselves in the foot (with such a candidate as Donald Trump) to shooting themselves in the head!!
Of course, with what little brains the ultra conservatives behind all of this had to begin with, it would not hurt their intelligence very much anyway!!
If they were really smart, they’d just disband it. Fine, do a symbolic questioning first to save face, but face it guys, everyone KNOWS this is a sham now, and even the “tough prosecutor” has been skipping out on witness interrogations he should have been on. And word is coming out that the so-called investigation team is having a good old time partying with each other on the taxpayer dollar.
220 Marines dead in a single incident in Lebanon, and what did the Democrats do? They kept a united front with Reagan, because you don’t try to sabotage a sitting president in troubled times. Unless you’re in the GOP, in which case dead Americans are just another political prop.
Benghazi was a consulate, not an embassy. Stevens did not spend a great amount of time there. How many OTHER consulates are defended like our embassies?And since we did NOT have a regional response force positioned anywhere close (7-8 hours away by most reports), they would have been too late regardless of notification.Interesting report on NPR today from a Guardian reporter who arrived the next day. Where Stevens was found was a safe room, without proper ventilation, just a barred door allowing smoke to overwhelm the occupants. I had never heard that from ANY other story.
