    Little History Tidbit:

The marshmallows in Lucky Charms were originally made by cutting shapes out of circus peanuts.

We took pillowcases. The streets were packed with kids & parents! We ate everything & anything! Froze the chocolate & counted all items daily to ensure that nothing was missing! Dad loved the candybars!

I grew up in small country mid western town a hundred years ago. When we went treating we were disappointed to get wrapped candy. It was all about homemade candied apples, popcorn balls, rice krispie treats, homemade cookies and candies and the like and the occasional quarter or dime. When we got home we happily shared with the whole family and the family of our folks best friends as their 5 kids were not allowed to go treating due to religious beliefs. I always thought it was odd they weren’t allowed out “begging” as their father put it but it was okay to eat our spoils.

Although it has been a very long time since I attended a circus, I am not sure what all the fuss is about circus peanuts!

Is it because they are unsalted and in the shell?
