And when no one could prove that vampires exist the farmers realized it was aliens all along.

I remember a picture years ago in National Geographic of a styrofoam head that had been shrunk down to the size of an apple from pressure at the bottom of the ocean.

Would the styrofoam cup really be crushed, or would the air just leach out of it?

That Vampire reward is rubbish and will never be claimed, we all know it was actually Werewolves killing the cattle.

Technically, those coffee cups are made of expanded polystyrene foam. Styrofoam is extruded, and the word is a trade mark owned by Dow Chemical.

On the plus side, you are fairly unlikely to require a styrofoam drinking cup on the ocean floor…

I was at a seminar with Bob Ballard, the seminar on which he was talking about finding the Titanic. On one dive, for giggles and grins, they put a 20 ounce styrofoam cup in the ballast tank of the robot sub Alvin before the dive. When Alvin returned, the ‘cup; was now the same size as a thimble, but it still weighed the same as before. He passed around the ’cup’. It was neat to see and feel it on your finger.

Let’s hope the vampires don’t get their hands on India’s nukes.

A long time ago like a hundred to two hundred years ago, otters were hunted almost to extinction for their soft furry pelts. Thank God for more people’s awareness nowadays of the horror of trophy hunting and the killing of animals for their fur.

We used to occasionally place styrofoam cups from the galley onto the ROV before diving then recovering them when it came back on deck. They didn’t lose their shape – just shrunk down a lot. But we used to only dive to 2000m.

Styrofoam cups can’t be used to hold gasoline either!(I needed a bit of gas for a lawnmower once and all I had was a styrofoam cup. It went through the bottom without slowing down!)
