Lots of junk, yes! There is a lot of worth while stuff, too; just look. I buy Christmas card, birthday cards, etc. there. Look at the back of the cards; it says MADE IN USA and costs $1.00. Look at a Hallmark card; it says MADE IN CHINA and costs $6.50!
Sure there is junk, but there is plenty of decent stuff too. One just has to know the prices. As a rule the dollar stores are great for the mundane (soup, dog poop pick-up bags, toiletries) and much less expensive, but often items can be found cheaper when on sale at a mainstream store. If it’s stuff one might normally buy anyway, we should be aware of the typical price range.
Dollar Store is great for keeping my Sunday School kids in arts and craft supplies as well as providing props for my lessons. Today I bought finger paint (4 colors), a bag of bugs (need a grasshopper for this week) a snake (next week’s lesson), a straw hat (I’m running a petting zoo this session) and a 2 pack of white glue. I still need a stuffed fox and a stuffed squirrel for the last 2 lessons this session. The fox that my dog has is a little too chewed to work. I need to check the discount bin at the pet store (or the thrift store).

I’m with Teena. I love the dollar store. Why spend more?

Birthstone kitty pin? Only a buck? I’ll take 12 of them. One for each month.

Good one, Mom! Poor Tina looks like she’s gonna cry in that last panel.
