But, if that’s true, the date seems wrong (though, it’s what others list as well).The Lot Notes included here say Olga was born in 1893, and those included here say Nick (Nicholas) was born in 1900. The girl does look about 7 years older than the boy.But, she also looks older than 7, the oldest she could have been, if the painting is from 1900. My guess is more like 1905; but, I have no basis.Or perhaps, at the birth of his youngest son, the artist, being at least 60 in 1900, was projecting down the road (path between the trees, above Nick looking back), what he thought they might look like in maybe 5 years. The artist’s Wikipedia page (Bing translated Russian Wikipedia page has more) and collection (more under Subcategories).Third, of the 3 works, by this artist, to have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here (5 total, 1 misattributed to his brother).

This is quality time. She’s there if the kid wants or needs her but she’s leaving the kid the freedom to be a kid and do kid things without hovering.
