    Good morning Vagabonds.

Going to be in mid 80’s with high humidity today and for the next few days.

Florchi: In regards to your inquiry about MT and the Kapok tree. I remember telling you about going to the Kapok Tree Inn in St. Pete? when we were in Florida in 1980. You sent me a link to a web site that told the history of it and how it was started. I never saved it. I don’t have any idea when that was. I even forgot that I saw it on MT and that was what prompted me to contact you. We also went to see the one on the east coast but we didn’t eat there. We still have the glasses from their “Hurricane” drink. Sorry I can’t give you anymore info.

    Good morning, Vagabonds.

The new Avatar is Otis. He’s a Fishing Cat and a resident at EFBC.

Here I am at midnight on another one of those “can’t get to sleep” nights. This is getting old real fast.

Tomorrow (today?) is supposed to be near 100 again. Another good day to stay inside, except that it is also the prayer ministry at church and cards at my friend’s house (neither of which I would miss on purpose!).

We just bought 6 new tires for the RV (the rear axle has “duelies”). The old ones were original equipment, and more than 12 years old. Considering that all manufacturers recommend replacing tires after 10 years due to the way the rubber ages and rots, it was a necessary expense. Those things cost $438 each. OUCH! They will get installed on Wednesday so we can feel safer about travelling to CA in August – and full-timing come next year.

David, your poem yesterday was well done and good enough to share. Do you mind if I print it and share with some of my church friends?

    G’nite for now, my friends.

Morning, Village!Thank you for the prayers, everyone. He’s doing better now. The car didn’t actually run over him, but knocked him down. The main blow came when his head hit the concrete. The bleeding in the brain seems to be pretty well stopped now and although he underwent a lot of nausua yesterday, they moved him from ICU to a room. Thankfully, there were no broken bones. He’s 79 and it gave us quite a scare.

Jan, feel free to use my poem. I sent it to Christianity Today, and they rejected it, so someone should get some benefit from it, I think. One problem is that most people are not familiar with the Mephibosheth story, but it’s always been one of my favorites.

And Jan, is that an ocicat? I’ve always wanted an ocicat, they are so beautiful!

    Good Morning, Vagabonds,

Well, it got up to 54 yesterday! That Alaskan cold front really was great! We only got an inch of rain, but really watered the forest beautifully!

David, that is good news about Uncle! Moving out of ICU is always good news!

Jan………will you live full time in your RV home? Or just travel a lot???

David: No, Otis is a Fishing Cat. They hunt fish exclusively. He’s standing in a kiddie pool where the keepers put goldfish so he can have fun catching them. They have several nice “habitats” for the fishing cats where the large ponds look a lot more natural than this pool.

Rita: We will experimenting for a while to see what works best for us. The idea of full-timing is to live in the RV and travel around at will. We’ve been aiming at that goal since we bought the RV in 2003, but don’t want to give up the permanent address until we are sure it will work out. We are members of a campground group that has over 100 sites all over the US, so we have plenty of places to go that will essentially be free. It works very much like a time-share. We pay an annual maintenance fee and can go to any one of the campgrounds for 2 weeks for free (or a small fee if we want to stay longer), then on to another. We can also make arrangements to work at one of the campgrounds (store clerk, gate keeper, activities coordinator, etc.) in exchange for a more extended stay. At the moment, the plan is to have Mike stay at the house while we are out gallivanting. He will pay rent to cover the mortgage and keep the place from falling apart. Right now, we are proceeding with plans, even though things may change drastically because of Michael’s cancer. (He goes for his second opinion tomorrow. Hopefully he will finally make a decision after that.)
