America does have a long history of riots. In the past, minorities were usually the targets of the rioters.

There is absolutely no reason to justify burning & looting. Crazier even more if you are the residents doing it to your own neighborhood. If done by outsiders, that is something else, but it should have been stopped with what ever force necessary before it got out of hand. The same goes for rioting & burning by any race, after wins or losses in cities after major sporting events.

It may sound excessive to you, but looters & burners yes, if they refuse to stop when confronted, & told to stop, & they continue. Violent? Yes! But nothing else seems to work. I am sure to get comments back condemning me, but for those people what do you suggest?, if lesser methods such as water cannon, tear gas, pepper spray, rubber bullets, or bean bag shots don’t work. Obviously I think lesser methods should be tried first. I get really mad when I see things destroyed that people of ANY race have worked their whole lives to build up be destroyed in hours by scum, in the name of some cause, any cause for that matter. They have absolutely no right to do so.

Randy_B —Just to clarify that I am not racist-My statement cover scum/thugs of ALL races. This includes Whites or others who frequently seem to want to loot & burn after their team wins/loses a major sporting event. This has got to stop. If it takes a few violent takedowns to get the message across that it will not be tolerated, so be it. Sometimes you have to fight fire with fire, no pun intended.

We shouldn’t be executing people, especially without due process, for crimes against property. Period. If they are endangering someone’s life, then more immediate violent means could be appropriate. Not otherwise.

no ones noticed that rioters are becoming more violent because all kinds of action is promised, but never implemented. black america is NOT a group of shoplifting losers! they are americans who CANNOT get a break from white america. all those factory jobs that went overseas are the jobs that fed their families, put a roof over their heads, you know the argument. rioting this way is probably a last resort so white america will finally listen!!!but, they NEVER do. they have nothing to do because theres no work for them to do!!

@CFinFL: When “their own neighborhood” is a row of unmaintained tenements owned by white slumlords living in suburban gated communities, burning it down may not be as crazy as it sounds. (Bit o’history: the US government goes to great lengths to support home ownership because back in the ‘30s FDR’s advisors noticed that the communist and fascist revolts in Europe were people who did not own property rising against those who did; hence, to kep it from happening here, they made a lot of us into property owners.)

@BrassOrchid: glad you agree. Voting for Bernie, then?

Ever notice how racists always say they’re not racist and their comments include everybody. Of course, the “everybody” is usually an afterthought.

@Judy Waddle—-When I said everybody, I MEANT EVERYBODY! If I owned a business & someone was trying to burn it or loot it, I would shoot the first White person trying to do it, & I am White. Of course, I would be arrested & not the perpetrator, as the perpetrator would be considered the victim & not me.

There are so many places to jump in here, starting with 40 years of failed government that not only put people in the positions of economic depravity in which they find themselves, but also keep them there, the better to justify ever-expanding governmental intrusion into personal lives. But we won’t go there, because it doesn’t fit the simplistic narrative. However, the notion that my life blows, so I’ll just burn down my whole neighborhood is fantastically short-sighted and I have no idea what prompts it.
