    I’d say that maybe her mom could explain it but given my lack of success at explaining simple algebra to my step kids, I’m not optimistic.

    Millie might be confused by the distinction between copyright and patents. Granted, the punchline wouldn’t have applied to patents.

    @ Miss Tink: Clearly the concept of satire eludes you.

    (The Walt Disney Company, the corporate entity that owns the trademarks and copyrights to all Disney properties, has been lobbying for decades — with some success — to keep those trademarks and copyrights in effect in perpetuity in contravention to U.S. and International trademark laws.)

    I understand laws. They go like this:

    The Disney Company: “We make money off of Mickey Mouse and adapting public domain fairy tales. We don’t want anyone else making money off of a public domain Mickey Mouse like we do with public domain fairy tales. Here’s a lot of money. Please help us keep Micky Mouse copyrighted.”
