Well, that’s more than I’d get for my lamp from Target!

I can sell the set of bowls I collected for my hope chest 55 years ago for about $80. But, when I told the lady at the antique store that she pointed to the sign that said " No one cares what your grandmother had other than your grandfather".

So true! I work in an antique mall, 90% of the shoppers are just that, shoppers. Many comparing prices and many more just jogging childhood memories. As for the “$31,500 adjusted for inflation bowl” not everything increases in value with time. Supply and demand works just fine in the antique market as well. Online auction sites have educated us on how common some “valuable rarities” really are.

Auction records are set when two rich idiots with no sense of value want the same thing.

As an antiques dealer I can attest to this.Sadly, most of this stuff has diminished in value in recent years.

A close friend does toy restorations, and he is very good at it. I asked him once why anybody would pay such a high price for the work he does, and he responded, “There are a lot of people out there who have more money than brains!”.Enough said…
