There’s a great comment about this ‘toon on the ArcaMax site. Hard to improve on it, but I’ll try. Two billionaire lawyers, with martinis. Two billionaire politicians, with gin fizzes. Two billionaire CEOs, with whiskey sours. All white, all male, all in grey business suits…-Only Noah is alone, except for the olive in his drink…

No women. These guys are going to get awfully lonely. Being part of the 1% doesn’t sound all that much fun.

That’s part of the point. The ones getting on the boat are so short sighted that they’re unable to see beyond what they need right now. They don’t care about anyone else or the next generation.

Down below decks are the servant’s quarters, just off to the side of the stables. And when I say “servants” I mean Asian and Latina women, because somebody has to cook and clean, and “service” the 1 per centers (when the trophy wives aren’t looking, if you know what I mean [and I know that you do}. Besides, where do you think the next generation of cooks, maids, and gardeners will be coming from?

Use the boat like a honey trap – lock them in and set sail on a “3 hour cruise”.

Well, they did pay for it after ll, while the so called 99%, which is actually around 50%, just sat around doing nothing expecting others to do for them. Funny, when I was a kid we revered the ant, now we hate the ant and praise the grasshopper. Oh wait, we don’t teach that story anymore.

I keep reading and seeing how we need to migrate to other planets before the sun blows up (like we’re going to make it that far – right). Obviously, we can’t take the whole planet’s worth of people, cattle, bacteria (needed to make beer and wine) and whatever else the ecosystem needs. So who decides who goes and who turns into toast?

Come to think of it, it would probably make more sense to move the planet.

Isn’t class envy just the greatest? I know whenever I can’t have something, I just blame the rich and that makes it all better.

Keep in mind the ones with martinis going in by ‘twos’ are the ‘unclean’ ones. The ‘clean’ ones were brought in by pairs of sevens [Gen. 7:2]

The clean ones must have gone in first. First class always boards early. Of course the 1% think they are the only ones on board

There are approximately 7 billion people in the world. That means if you are in the top 70 million for earnings (which works out to somewhere around $32,000/year), you are in the top 1%. That means a vast majority of you are in the same group you are denigrating. As the old saying goes, “when you point a finger at someone, 3 are pointing back at you.”

The mythical Noah and his family were the ultimate “one percenters”, and the majority of today’s one-percenters could ALSO care less who survives their actions that provide those martinis and yachts. Noah had a mythical being to raise the seas and drown the world. Today’s “humankind” is managing it quite as effectively, if not with so much mythical overkill.

Now speaking as someone who studied archaeology: many ancient peoples had flood stories as part of their religious or cultural heritage. Besides the Jews, there were Sumerians and Babylonians who had a flood story in the Near East.-The ancient Greeks in Mesopotamia had a flood story. Medieval Irish people had a flood story in their cultural history, as did the Finnish.-Several tribes in Africa had flood stories as part of their heritage, including the Yoruba and the Maasai. The Maasai story even sounds very similar to that of what we now call the Old Testament.-India, Turkestan, China, Korea and Malaysia had flood stories, as did Australia and Polynesia. Several South American native tribes had flood stories.-What can be concluded from all this is that, at some point in Earth’s history, there must have been major floods, and each culture found its own explanation for that. They also had to explain to themselves why some survived, and some didn’t.
