Angela Merkel and Francois Hollande are visiting Vladmir Putin, who is a dog tearing up Ukraine. Merkel: I sense he's almost ready to negotiate seriously.
Yeah, Mad Dog Putin seems about right. I don’t know what it is about the Russians, but it seems that they’ve a very long history of preferring that their top dog be a mad dog.
It seems to me Ukrainian President Poroshenko (the new US lapdog) is doing far more to destroy Eastern Ukraine…but no one talks about that. If the number of Russian troops and tanks allegedly in Eastern Ukraine were actually there, this business would have been over long ago.
Putin is using anti-American propaganda and the war in the Ukraine to boost his popularity and keep the huddled masses from noticing their economy is tanking. I don’t think he will be able to keep it up much longer. About the only thing that can save him is if oil prices recover a lot in the near future.
Of course with spring coming, the oil companies are already working on boosting gas prices for the driving season. Funny how they always have equipment difficulties, strikes or something else to justify the spring in gas prices at the same time every year. Even though gas had almost dropped 50% over the last year or so, I don’t see the refineries or distributors going out of business. I guess that gives an idea of how much profit they were making. I don’t know very many businesses that could take a fifty percent cut in revenue and still be around.
