Make this your farewell season, like Derek Jeter.

Even though the political viewpoints expressed in the strips are usually miles apart from my own, Doonesbury continues to be one of my all-time favorites, reruns or not. Funnier still are the often clueless comments from readers who were not around the first time the strip appeared (or were clueless both then and continue to be so now).

‘The Thrill Is Gone’… sounds like a great song title. Maybe a blues riff…

Yeah, just like all those selfish authors, songwriters, singers, actors, inventors, and their ilk who continue to collect royalties long after they’ve finished their work.

One of the saddest of all blues songs, for my money.

I’m finding it amazing that a lot of the political stuff is (sadly) still relevant. Someone said when we were impeaching Clinton that this country always has to have someone or something to be at war with – and it is absolutely true. If we aren’t hating another country, we turn it on ourselves and sometimes we are doing both at the same time- like now.
