Love yourself no matter what, you have thoughts that would be a waste not to use or throw away, or store in your own personality, that are better than anyone.
Nothing that hasn’t been said before, but… I’ve never understood how some people could find pleasure in hurting others. They must be so wounded and afraid themselves. But knowing that still doesn’t completely remove the sting, especially when you’re young and so unsure of yourself. Heaven help you if you don’t have some real love, from somewhere in your family or life.
Rock and Roll may heal your soulBut words will never cure you.Well, not as long as you keep trying to express your grief at being a flawed and fragile mortal being by inflicting your pain on others in an attempt to rid yourself of it, rather than honestly expressing your fear, doubt and vulnerability.“Bully for you, chilly for me Got to get a rain check on pain.”-Fame : David Bowie
At 75 I still have vivid memories of being bullied in school. Believe me, it stays with you ‘til the end. I will attend my Class of 1958 Reunion in June … some of the people who bullied me will be there. I don’t know how I will react.
Bullying seems to be part of human nature. Schools are missing the boat by either ignoring it or treating it as an occasional anomaly. Building a culture in which bullying cannot thrive should be job #1, before ABC or the Three Rs.
Anonymity breeds contempt, its easy to insult, ridicule, and condemn when no one knows who you are. Sadly that what our internet focused world has spawned. I wonder how many would be so bold if they actually had to sign their own name to their words. When I was a child my grandmother said to me don’t say or write any thing you are not willing to stand behind and face in public opinion.
I was bullied in school, I refuse to speak to her now. My friends think I should forgive, but no I won’t, She has had tragedies in her life. Karma is a hard mistress.I didn’t know it was bullying at the time, but shunning is terrifying to an insecure 15 year old.
I don’t actually exist. But if I did, I’m sure I would have experienced a bit of bullying in a variety of settings for the majority of my existence, and that it would render me emotionally remote when the bullies later encountered difficulties. But that’s just the way it is. I like to think that they really, really cared and tried to distance anybody they valued from the troubles they knew must come.(sniff)So noble.

A good bully teams up with the law and brings down the ultra bully, or protects.

Now… how to get the bullies back into the water?

You know, though, the problem with our society is that it is made up of humans. You can’t make a silk purse from a sow’s ear.

Thanks, Teresa. … When is a cartoon more than just a comic? (Pretty much every day with Ms. T!)

It is not unusual to empathize with your tormentor.

I recently had some anti-vaccine parents on Facebook accuse me of bullying. I think my “bullying” of them was quite splendid.

Well done Teresa. Sticks and stones can break our bones, but those words never do go away.
