Yes, it is all about winning with no thought about solving the real problems we face. The sleazy commercials are all attack ads. Nobody talks about what they are hoping to accomplish. American politics has sunk to a new low and is working hard to sink even lower.

I am not sure where the second statement comes from. Republicans are the only party who eat their own. How many Republican incumbents have been challenged by other Republicans in the past couple elections because they aren’t conservative enough? Ask Eric Cantor whether the Dems do the same thing.
I have a colleague who wanted to run for state office about 15 years ago as a Republican. Even then, Republican representatives came to his office to tell him he wasn’t what they wanted in a candidate. They also told him that if he continued to run, they would find a way to ruin him. I don’t remember whether they wished him to have a nice day at the end of the conversation.
The Republican platform is to destroy government, because that might lower taxes. If they take the senate, we will get nothing on immigration, jobs, transportation, building bridges, or stimulating the economy; only government shut downs. Only a few other countries have to put up with saboteurs trying to destroy their own country. Iraq comes to mind.
