I think you guys are too critical of Opal. At least she has a good sense of humor. And she tolerates him — I’m not sure I would.

Opal has a cruel streak, that’s for sure. And look at the “lesson” she’s teaching her grandson – it is ok to be cruel.

Boy, this reminds me of home. I can be out calling and calling for Pepper and then find she has snuck up behind me and is just sitting there quietly.

“Familiarity breeds contempt” is an old saying and 50 years of familiarity wil do that. But it’s a comfortable contempt.
