I’m really liking these de Blass paintings. Had never heard of him, but that’s not unusual. (Sorry for being serious, just felt compelled to say this.)
Once again, so far, this isn’t in the list of works, by this artist, in Mr. Melcher’s blog.Curiosity, from the Pears’ Annual, Christmas, 1892 (link shows Wikipedia page, Marketing section mentions the annuals, published around Christmas each year) is, as far as I can tell, privately owned.The artist’s dated (1891) signature is at the lower right base of the wall, and Pears’ Annual 1892 in the path below it, in the somewhat enlarged image, found here.Chromolithographs of it were made, and one was on auction last year (not sure it sold); so, I don’t know for sure that the original painting still exists. His Wikipedia page and collection (more under Subcategories).Third, of the 3 other works (list link above), by this artist, that have, so far, appeared in Mr. Melcher’s blog, to also appear here (4 so far).
