Well, I recall Springfield had a meteorite that was breaking into pieces before impact. Then Bart Simpson put one of the fragments into his shorts pocket.
YIKES! Instead of running the October 29, 1967 Peanuts strip related to Halloween and Charlie Brown and Linus playing Hangman in class (all because in 2014 Halloween is 5 days from now, not 2 days this strip from( this 1958 Peanuts Sunday strip is run instead! (According to the Complete Peanuts 1957-1958 volume, this strip was originally run on December 7, 1958 – And this is the first time in years this strip has been rerun, some other out of context Peanuts strips got replaced by previously rerun Peanuts strips).
Linus probably learned about falling stars fitting into pails from Lucy. (One episode Lucy was telling Linus that leaves fly south for the winter. When Charlie Brown objected, she replied, “When you look at a map, north is up and south is down, isn’t it? Linus, these leaves are flying south for the winter!”)

Reading Peanuts is like time travel. For a few moments, I’ve returned to a better world.

As my great-gran was known to say, “I remember the old days, and they were bloody awful.”

Actually, if a meteorite too big to fit in Linus’ bucket landed there, wouldn’t it leave a good sized hole in the state?
