It isn’t so much that many of us approve of Obama’s actions, or not. But many of us are tired of having our intelligence insulted by this golf thing! Many of the ’toonists of GC have been better in the past at getting their point across, but lately have shown a sudden “writers block” in coming up with an original spoof.
Also, many times in history, political and military leaders feign calmness, or indifference during an impending crisis. ie: After Sarajevo, the Kaiser still went on his annual cruise to Norway, and the Austrian P.M. went to a Spa, to keep up the illusion of peace,all the while cooking up their plans for the assaults on Serbia & Russia. President Lincoln refrained from harsh action for a few months after southern states began seceding and seizing federal property, keeping the channel open with southern unionists. When it became clearer that the Rebs would continue, he drew the line and said enough. Then, Davis ordered the seizure of Fort Sumter.Just because the president is not running around ordering invasions and bombings does not mean he is doing nothing.And don’t forget the morning we all woke up to hear that bin Laden was caught and killed, by a “do-nothing” president who picked up the cold trail and finished the job.
As I have said before, I have my gripes about President Obama. Just because someone defends him for something, just as some of us defend pols from the right, this does not necessarily make one a 100% supporter, an Obamabot.
Every president since (and including) Ike has been a golfer. .Every president since (and including) Ike has used a teleprompter..They just haven’t been uppity about it. That’s what infuriates the rightwingers. It’s all about HOW you do it. “Uppity” is no good.
Well, there’s the key, Jeff old boy — you don’t know many people. There are different ways of handling stress and grief, and yours is not the only way. .The last time someone you loved died and people were blaming you for it — publicly and loudly — how did you handle it? And is that the way you handled it when people blamed you — publicly and loudly — for other deaths over the past six years? Include the times they lied about what had happened and accused you of covering it up.
