Soldiers in many previous wars were compensated mainly by what they could plunder, both in goods and physical entertainment. Non-combatants were slaughtered, and women taken as domestic slaves (if they were lucky). The cry “Havoc!” was the signal to go to it.

Incredibly powerful art in this one. It would make one hell of a poster.

No way I can find and link to it, but I think Asimov wrote an essay with that in it..Go ahead and pick nits. Sometimes I find the comments that get off the subject more interesting than the original subject itself. Sydney J. Harris wrote occasional columns subtitled, “Things I Learned on my Way to Looking up Other Things.” They were often his better columns.

Or when you disengage from Iraq too quickly and do not follow up with support and political guidance for the emerging democratic government.

    “^What are “scare resources”?”

Pretty sure that was meant to be “scarce”.

The left is seizing on the issue of immunity for US Soldiers to excuse the President’s premature withdrawal of forces from Iraq. However, the fact is that the this could have been negotiated, had the President had the desire and the competence to do so. instead, he deliberately made such negotiations more difficult, as explained in this article:-www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2014/06/why-obama-owns-iraq.php
