PHANTOM: Still trying to figure out what is going on. What is the purpose of all of this?
REX MORGAN: June doesn’t think there is a chance of a revolt? Where has she been living?
MARK TRAIL: Chris or Dirty doesn’t seem too worst for the wear after being run over by a herd of buffalo. Clothes are in perfect shape as is his hair. Just like Mark’s.
MARY WORTH: Mary did a great job of saving Olive. Now we can discuss it for the rest of the week.
CRANKSHAFT: This appears to be a criminal trial (a civil trial for damages wouldn’t have a defense attorney and wouldn’t have a “not guilty” plea). It appears the defendant started a bonfire in his yard to burn some documents, so it seems to me that a fine imposed by the jurisdiction would have been sufficient. What is the defendant on trial for? The charge? The penalty (if found guilty)? A civil trial over money (damages) for the affected neighbors would make more sense to me. But as far as I know, you can’t mix the two in actions in court (criminal/civil) and the burden of proof is higher in a criminal action. I’m not a lawyer, so would like to hear some other comments re this.Meanwhile, Cranky seems to be having the time of his life.
Mary Worth – I hope Olive will tell Mary about the doctor she is so afraid of. But woodworker may be right.Rex Morgan – The teachers have been on the verge of a revolt ever since June signed on to teach.Judge Parker – Sam has reason to think that.Crankshaft – Florchi asks some good questions to which I don’t know the answers. Arson? Endangerment? Public nuisance? What is unbelievable to me is that Crankshaft ever got on a jury, for this case in particular, given his own history with backyard fires. Mark Trail – Chris looks remarkably good. Did he plan this whole incident, with an escape plan for himself? I thought we saw him fall right in the middle of the stampede.Phantom – I second woodworker’s comments. Why let the president know now? Why enter the cell? Why take off his rings?
Crankshaft Marvee, are you really expecting reality in this strip? Especially after the one they just finished where they expected a TV show to be aired before it was filmed.
Rex Morgan “It will never come to that.” So, of course it will.
