Those rights won’t apply to you until the 14th Amendment.

Now you are pre-judging every republican and Christian white male. A ridiculous statement. There are persons of each color, gender, political party, and ethical persuasion who want it that way for persons not just like themselves. To quote Kilrain from the movie Gettysburg, “Anyone who judges men as a group is a pee-wit. You judge men one at a time.”

So you believe all Republicans are straight white males?A world not seen due to blinders worn..All generalizations are wrong — including this one.

No comments on the 2nd amendment pertaining to him?Actually, I’ll believe it the day a black man shoots a white man while standing his ground – and gets off.

Boss is correct in that black men will be arrested often and face juries. Sammy is correct in that black men will often not make it past the tree on the way to the jury.

Now you’ve hurt my feelings..If you name a condition and associate it with a particular state to condemn that state, then yes it is written as if it pertains to every single (or even married) person in that state. The statement would have been true that some have that attitude if the states cited were Massachussetts, Illinois, New Jersey or any other. Linking the statement to a state condemns all..The fact that you call me a complete idiot for thinking so is a very hurtful thing to say. I’m not complete yet.

“SYG does appear to be applied selectively.”

And then there’s Theodore Wafer. I hope his conviction stands through the appeals.

For all those criticizing masterskrain, I happen to know he is a product of the South. Currently, he resides in the northern South — Kentucky.

Yes, Theodore Wafer was recently convicted of 2nd degree murder in the porch slaying of an unarmed teenager. However, that event took place in Detroit, Michigan.

montessoriteacher: a teenager the victim was not, and the event did not take place in Detroit but in a neighboring suburb that’s 90% white. The jury was mixed white/black. Neither the prosecution nor the defense raised race as an issue.

I was born outside of New Orleans in 1958. I was taught that black people were not as good as white people. But as I became a teenager, I learned that they are pretty much like the rest of us, so I lost that racism. Unfortunately, large numbers of my parent’s generation are stil racist. But that situation is getting better as they die off. Thank God for that.

Reneisha McBride was indeed 19. The trial took place in Detroit, even if the shooting took place in Dearborn Heights, Mi, adjacent to Detroit.

Where are you LWP? I thought you lived in the AA Michigan area, which is near Detroit? I grew up in a suburb of St Louis, but tend to identify as being from St. Louis, since others don’t tend to know anything about the suburbs around St Louis. My husband grew up around Detroit and AA, he always identifies himself as being from Detroit. AA= Ann Arbor, for those not familiar.

If the Reneisha McBride murder took place in a neighborhood that is 90% white, there is probably a greater chance that race may have been involved as a factor, in terms of a white guy killing a black teen on his porch. I am not sure we can know exactly what was in the heart of all those involved, since we were not there. I would love to believe that only the purest of morals were involved, not sure that is true.

What’s reallllly sad is that Northern states allowed slave hunters from Southern states to enter their borders, and recapture run away slaves. The south saw the deal was so good that “hunters” began to take free-men/women and nothing was done in the state or federal government to stop this activity. I think we can all agree that free labor helped surge the economy of America in her infancy. I heard someone say that the slave trade is to America what the Holocaust is to Germany; an extremely sadistic picture of man’s inhumanity to man. Considering the the humanity factor, no matter how you slice it, it is/was wrong to hold a defenseless person against their will, inflict physical pain, and mental anquish for any purpose. Just saying…
