I thought the movies were pretty good. Then Peter Jackson tried to stretch “The Hobbit” to the same length with material gleaned from “The Simarillion”… which never became as famous as either “The Hobbit” or “Lord of the Rings” for a darn good reason.
“The Hobbit,” which was produced well after this cartoon was published, was good. The “Bored of the Rings” though, is an apt title for the earlier films. Damn trees walking for ages, it was mind-numbing. And plot-wise, why didn’t they just ride the trees from the start of their drawn-out epic?

Bored of the Rings is a good book, just not a very good movie.
