For at least this once I have to agree with you, yes, even an ultra conservative such as yourself.

I accept that soccer can be an enjoyable spectator sport – if it were not it would not have so many devoted fans – but it does not hold my interest. I agree that it is more fun to play than watch, though in my case you need people willing to put up with my weak abilities.

When I wasn’t watching the game, Portugal scored. I realised the game had started and began watching it. And watched as the USA scored 2 goals. 2 minutes from the 90 min mark I sighed and switched off the TV. Thus missing the Portuguese equaliser in injury time.

I plan to miss the next Portugal game. They need to score at least 5-1…

This is as it stands. I think:

USA Win against Germany – USA advance in 1st position in the group.USA Draw – Advance in 2nd positionUSA Loss against Germany and a draw between Portugal and Ghana – USA advance in 2nd position. If the US Loses to Germany 1-0 and Portugal Wins…US can advance as long as the Portuguese don’t win by more than a three-goal margin; 4-0 for Portugal or any other type of four-goal win would be a no-no.If the US Loses to Germany 1-0 and Ghana Wins, the US can ONLY advance if Ghana wins by a score of 1-0 or 2-1.IF…

omg, the list of ifs is longggggg.

But I like this one:If the US Loses to Germany 3-0 and Portugal Wins…A win for Portugal by 3 goals would see them advance. A Portuguese 2-0 win would exhaust all tiebreakers and force FIFA to flip a coin to see who advances between the US and Portugal.

I….I’m going to watch a movie instead, safe in the knowledge Portugal almost always crashes out, I’m stressed enough as it is.

Good Luck to the Americans, I’m sure you’ll progress to the next round. ;-)

Meh…. I’ll start caring about soccer again when they lift the ban on players taking their shirts off.

It really is not all that difficult to follow and understand. Of course, it also is not American football where genetic anomalies put on 15 pounds of plastic, run into each other, stand around for 30 – 45 seconds and then repeat.
