Or perhaps its punishment for the hubris of putting words in god’s mouth.

    Each explanation is equally ridiculous.

Yes, of course it is, because you find that more believable.

Global warning is real, but even NOAA doesn’t like to use tornadoes as an indicator.

Funny, the jihadists say it’s Allah’s punishment to the infidels!

That’s the great thing about religion—you get to make stuff up, and then pretend it’s real. Science works under the constraint of having to conform to the facts. Among other things, that explains why religion is so much more popular, and why there are so many different ones.

There is a contest, a war if you will between chaos and order, good and evil BOTH of which stem from the same source.

Call that source God if you wish for it is the fountain of all things, is in all things, and has ordered all things in the universe.

Laws were made that must be obeyed for that is the way of it.

As was said: I AM that I AM.

There are no restrictions on your sexual proclivities. Certainly not by “GOD”.

But there are consequences for your actions. The law must be obeyed because it is final and absolute.

Are the consequences devastating? Not always. For example ignoring the law concerning gravity is deadly in some cases but just mildly irritating in others.

But to think that “GOD” would bring destruction via a natural occurrence upon an entire community because some over zealous self righteous cleric 2000 years ago decided that it was evil for one man to love another is ludicrous.

There is evil. It is the soldier of chaos and uses prejudice, hate, envy, jealousy and fear to tear at the fabric of order.

Organized religion is the bane of human kind.

Clearly you are not conversant with the Old Testament. Nor the New Testament. Nor most of recorded history.
