Kids usually hate the notion of a healthy school lunch because their parents feed them highly processed junk food at home. Type 2 diabetes used to be referred to as adult onset diabetes. Now we’re seeing teens and even some kids getting diagnosed with the disease largely caused by obesity, bad diet and lack of exercise.

Cheap to produce, cheap to buy, quick to fix, immediately gratifying, habit-forming – the perfect consumer product..A magazine cartoon from years ago: Ad executives shown around the conference table, apparently discussing the marketing of a breakfast cereal. One person says to the boss, “Strictly off the top of my head, of course, B.B. — why not make it slightly addictive?”.And then when medication for the ills caused by poor diet is needed later in life, that market is covered, too..My question is, if this stuff is nutritionally deficient, why are kids growing so tall? Is tall healthier? Even so, from what I read, children in some European countries have passed U.S. children in average height. What is the differing factor?

I would think everyone would be in favor of trying to get kids to eat a healthy meal. I mean, who would be against that? The only down side is there will be resistance to change and the fast food people might make a little less money.

It has been predicted (and I have no reason to doubt this) that one out of every three American children under the age of 8 will be diabetic before they become 21.

If you think health care costs a lot now……..

Children have always rebelled against healthy food. Why do we abdicate our responsibility as adults?

I like that “bliss with every bite.” I wonder if in that regard there would be a cooking show called “The Orgasmic Gourmet”?

Not if they adapt."===“Night-Gaunt49 said, about 2 hours ago

They are adapting by becoming sick. The other would be to stop eating that food designed to reach their bliss with every bite."==Well, God forbid the food industry adapt to anything but marketing. That would be Bad For Business.-Next thing you know, they’ll be asked not to hire illegals.

Are you for real? As much as I enjoy these comics, I’ve GOT to recommend you get out and read some grown-up literature. I assume you’re referring to toad-in-a-hole, a dish with bread, butter, eggs and cheese.

Well, when you finish your adolescent guffawing, you can find a recipe for Spotted Dick in Epicurious magazine. It’s a lovely cake-like pudding whose spots are made with raisins. And sorry, no, “Epicurious” is not a dirty word.

How about, let their parents take care of them.

No more than you give a damn that teens and kids are beginning to be diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. Kids throw out healthy lunches because their parents actively support their unhealthy diets.
