If not for this “Great Experiment” in Mrs. Grundy-ism there would have been no Mob, no mass corruption of the Police and the Courts, no Kennedys (Check where Old Joe’s money came from) Indeed, many of America’s ‘social ills’ can be traced from that moment.

You want to eliminate a ‘Vice’ DON’T engage in it! And gently encourage others to follow your example. The moment you use anything more forceful than calm reasoned persuasion YOU ARE EXPOSED as a TYRANT!

I first heard about Prohibition when I was in 4th grade (circa 1960). That night I asked Grandpa R., who was about to retire from Rheingold Brewery, what he did from 1920 to 1933. He said the place made “near-beer” (<0.5% alcohol). He drove the truck to “some store”, and what happened after that was no concern of his!

Roger Kettle was the writer for Andy from 2000-2010, and was a very good replacement for Reg Smythe when the strip was reincarnated. I just discovered that he now does a strip called Beau Peep about a cowardly legionnaire. Check it out at Beau Peep.

I recently made a post about racism an to make my point I used the “N” word with the middle letters replaced with asterisk.I wasn’t calling anyone a racial slur, just pointing out what someone else was saying, so I could make my point.My post was removed.It was removed, even thow I was making an ANTI racist comment. And (as far as I know) I’m still here.

We did this experiment once with alcohol. It didn’t work. Crime was rampant. We did it again with drugs. It didn’t work. Crime is rampant. Why do we have to keep trying prohibition over and over and over when there are absolutely no examples of it ever having worked?

BE VERY CAREFUL what you post! Depends on who is watching. Using symbols doesn’t work either! I was accused of and I quote, using “trickery” by using dollar signs and asterisk, etc.

Happy I replied to a poster who called someone a Hispanic racial slur, using their quote and defending Hispanics (Carmy) was Hispanic, btw. Anyway, that was part and parcel of what got me banned, so be careful Happy and the rest of you.

Instigator is the cartoonist himself of that strip. I have been reading it for years. In fact, way back in 2008 when I signed up as a Pro here, that was the strip that brought me to gocomics in the first place.
