I don’t think Europe is going to engage militarily with one of its primary energy suppliers.The company I work for just this last week proudly – not shamefully or kept it hidden – announced on our intranet that they had secured a small contract to supply Gazprom in London certain services worth half a million quid.The European strategy is this: trade even more aggressively with Russia as trading partners rarely go to war with each other. Or something like that.
Nope, I sense the Western Ukrainians may be on their own.

He is just observing the situation and wondering where it is going to lead. I wonder that, too.I’ve heard it said that Putin doesn’t want to annex all of Ukraine, he just wants to control it. If he succeeds, then what? I don’t see any good way for this to end, not for anybody. And for the record, I have no recommendations to make. Like Toles, I just look on and wonder what will happen next, and next after that. …
