Thanks to all who opened up and made comments yesterday.I think I’ve been on all sides of the equation……been the brunt, been the bad, been the good, married the insecure, made lots of mistakes, did my best once I learned a few things……..but some people aren’t ready to give you another chance. To my children and my step-children, if you’re reading this, I love you all. I always will, even if you never come back.Dad.

Its hard for them to come back. Damage done at an early age leaves scars that remains the rest of their lives.

Guy has really taken a step outside the normal action of a strip like NANCY, hasn’t he? The return of :Phil has opened a new direction – one that has been sadly missing from most strips in the last 20 years are so. NANCY’s strip began as a light-hearted look at a cute young lady whose name named FRITZI RITZ. Phil was the main boyfriend even back then. After Fritzi adopted (?) her sister’s daughter, the child took over the strip and it’s title and was played for laughs. Now Guy is moving into unknown territory that is usually ignored in comic strips. It’s great that he has the courage to look at a problem that has been around for many centuries, maybe even from Adam and Eve with their own kids. Parenting is one of the most important jobs in the world, but to many people don’t have much of an idea how to instill self-worth in the kids they have brought into this world. I think I’ll stop now before I get accused of preaching to much.

Guy, thank you! I’ll be watching your progress.

Sorry about too many copies. My arthritis sometimes makes me hit keys too often or not enough.

Notice in panel 1 who Phil’s expert counselor is? Sam! It is no joke that your canine companion at times is an angel from heaven to guide you.l

“Boys Town” was a good movie (and a good cause).

My husband graduated from Boys Town in 1960, it’s a wonderful place. You should see how many old fellas from all over the country attend the reunions.

Recently, we’ve also learned more about Sluggo’s background. I think we always knew there was a sad story there even though he seemed happy-go-lucky. What happened to Nancy’s mother? Possibly another sad but not unusual story. If you want a joke-a-day strip, I really can’t think of a strip that is just that.

At least he got to work and stay away from the house. I had a mother who would go all out to get her five children fired from their jobs. When we married, she would do her best to get her sons-in-law fired. My sisters and I moved away. My brother managed to keep his job dispite all her bull, but once when he was new to the job of maintaining the state’s highways, she reported that he stole a road sign, which was a lie. He arrived to work, and they were ready to fire him until he explained her history of mental abuse. Over the years he endured her mental abuse. He moved out of the house at age 17, but she continued being abusive until the day she died.

Re: duplicate posts. I’ve done that because sometimes my computer is slow, I’m impatient, and hit the submit button again (and again). When I deleted the duplicate post, the original went away also.
