There’s already laws requiring equal pay for women (look it up), but we certainly don’t need a gigantic 2 TRILLION Dollar government takeover of health insurance!
Excellent question: Why do we not enforce laws currently on the books?
It reminds me of the law that Va. Beach put into effect banning eating and drinking on the beach. Why? People were leaving their garbage on the beach. We had a law already prohibiting litter on the beach, but we banned eating and drinking.
(Didn’t work: little Johnny wants a $7 hamburger, eats 3 bites, wants to go back to the beach. An hour later, Johnny is hungry again. Parents went ballistic with unnecessary costs. And now we have a beach covered with litter unless machines clean it. Still no enforcement of litter laws.)
We have laws against running red lights, and that seems to be becoming the national sport. No enforcement equals no law.

“Politics are now nothing more than a means of rising in the world.” (Samuel Johnson, 1775; "The Oxford Dictionary of Quotations, Third Edition)… ;)
