My dad was high in NASA many years ago. They opened a new facility, and had to move a large research library. This is a complex job, as maintaining the organization of the collection is not simple. The contract went to the lowest bidder of course. And the guy showed up on moving day with a large can and a half-a-dozen high school students working part-time. The results can be imagined. Penny wise and pound foolish. Save a buck in one area, and it ends up costing you ten in another. I have seen this sort of bad judgment often in every size of enterprise from the household to large corporations. The problem is often that the people who “save” the money, are not the ones who have to pay for the rectification of the problem they’ve caused.
