Supporting amnesty really would be the death nail to the GOP.Just add 12 million mostly uneducated, poor people to the ranks of the Democrats.Oh and also infuriate the working class who be displaced or have their wages shrunk even more by the flood of cheap labor.
Most Americans would tell you they would buy American if they had a choice. But when they do, they go cheap, no matter where or under what conditions the product was manufactured. Until Americans truly vote with their wallets, we will continue to see outsourcing, and when the factories in Bangladesh catch fire or collapse, we’ll be more interested in whether our clothes will cost more as a result than why so many innocents in Bangladesh had to die.
You are right about NAFTA. The idea was, and still is, that the third world countries that take all our jobs will eventually have workplace safeguards and other advantages that unions brought to our workplaces in the US, whether as a result of unions or other factors.
And eventually, all workers will have some minimum safeguards and reasonable wages as a result. The question, of course, is how long is it going to take to achieve parity. And the answer: longer than any of us wants it to.

Anyone who can listen to Limbaugh and believe what he says could not possibly be portrayed as being any stupider than he actually is.
