Okay, I think there’s some missing info in all these comments. The door locks from the INSIDE, so Bwad and Toni are perfectly safe, able to get out, and would never let Shannon get so hysterical that she called 911. Meh (etc) — you lock IN a closet that which you don’t want others to find.

Reminds me of my brother’s bringing his (now)wife home the first time. He had stopped at a 7-11, and had a specialty cup, ‘glow-in-the-dark’ that he HAD to show to his girlfriend. Of course, all of the kids had to see it, also.

For some reason, it didn’t glow for them, as brightly as it did for her.

-Speaking on behalf of families that have adopted children, A FOSTER HOME IS NOT A PERMANENT ADOPTIVE HOME.-Kids in foster care can be moved so frequently that they never bother to unpack a suitcase. If you favor adoption, quit pushing for foster care.

-A foster home is where she’d be put-Every case is different. Here in Florida, if there are other relatives who are willing and judged able to take in a child, they are temporarily fostered with that family until it is determined whether the birth parents should have their rights severed, and then the other relatives are offered the chance to adopt.-The kids that were adopted in our family were not from our other family members, but were adopted directly through an agency that worked with birth mothers who wanted to give up their children. They were never put into foster care.-Foster families are supposed to receive training and have a limited number of kids to foster, In actual fact, there are too few foster homes, so kids sent to foster care are often in a very crowded environment. So even though many foster parents are excellent, the kids keep getting moved because the homes are not supposed to be so overcrowded.-There are a lot of people who really should not be parents, for a lot of reasons. Some of them are mentally ill. We have a horrible case going on right now in Florida where 4 children were returned to a mentally ill mother with little means of support. She had already accidentally killed one child when she was sharing her bed with him and rolled over on him. She has now killed that child’s twin. -The fact that someone is biologically related to a child does not qualify them to be a parent, and the fact that someone is an aunt or an uncle does not mean that they should automatically be assumed to be ready to be a parent if a parent is unable to act in that capacity.

We’ll see how this storyline develops. Locked in a closet, or does Shannon get in trouble? Maybe both. Remember when she disappeared and ended up sleeping in the clothes basket/

We know that Brad and Toni care for Shannon. Remember Halloween? They took her trick-or-treatin so that Jonah could go to a party.

I’m sure Brad and Toni will be adopting Shannon someday after they marry. But will she be abandoned before they marry, or after?

It would have been better to have Shannon hide while they “looked” for her. That way she would safely be in one place, and B and T could have 5 minutes to themselves. If they stay in the closet more than 5 minutes and she can’t find them she will probably go outside to look for them. She will get in some unsafe situation.

Day 1 – Shannon hunts all over and can’t find them. More giggles from closet.

Day 2 – Shannon looks harder and does some damage in the process. Groans from closet.

Day 3 – Banging on closet door gets Shannon’s attention. She calls 911. She will use some kind of double entendre comment.

Day 4 – Firemen (regardless of gender) break down the closet door to reveal disheveled, ready to get out, B&T. Firemen’s eyebrows are raised. To save time, GOCOMICS will take today’s comments and just reprint them

To be fair to Brad and Toni, little kids are usually very loud and easy to track when playing hide and seek. As long as they don’t stay in the closet for more than five minutes, Shannon should be fine.

Wes, you may attest to the absurdity all you want. When we bought this house it had a privacy lock on the outside of the walk in closet and the linen closet. I always wondered did someone miscount when they bought them or for other more nefarious reasons? Oh wait, “Honey, time for a time out, to the walk in for you!”

“…Brad/Toni are not good caretakers at all.”Shannon definitely requires supervision, and disappearing for “play time” doesn’t fulfill that obligation. Who knows what she’ll get up (in) to.Heaven knows how Jonah does it when not dropping the child off on Toni; maybe he’s not such a bad parent after all since Shannon is with him whenever he’s not off looking for work or whatever, which doesn’t seem to be too frequent as we see Toni sans child all the time in this strip.
