“Of course there’s no actual equivalency between the law (ACA) and healthcare.gov. ".So… You are saying that the Obama administration is just making things up as they go along and not paying any attention to the law as written?.I can buy that.

Let’s revisit this in about March and see where it all stands.

Our connies want to kill it now, lest, God forbid, it succeed, and turn out to be a good thing for the American people.

Geico does health insurance? And Aflac sells to individuals? I did not know that!.Meanwhile, we need to go back to leadership where promises are kept. Like when the Iraqis greeted our soldiers with flowers. And the cost of the war was paid for by oil revenues.

“Would you please point to the millions that went without seeing a doctor before ACA. Since there are none you may go back to watching The Madcow on MSNBC.”

Oh, there are plenty of them. My husband retired in 2006, before my cancer treatment was complete. I haven’t had any coverage since, because Cobra was as much as our mortgage, and full policies were more.

We couldn’t afford them. I doubt that we could afford the ACA, either, but I know for a fact that we can’t afford Medicare. However, since our government doesn’t shrink at extorting it’s constituents, I now have medical coverage.

Food budget – not so much. Good thing we don’t eat as much as we used to, eh?

“You don’t have to buy Geico, but you are required to have automobile insurance, so that’s the same as “Obamacare.””

    And equally offensive.

This is supposed to be a free market capitalist economy, right?

Government mandated purchases of anything contradict that principle. A free market operates without government interference.

Unfunded mandates are unconstitutional – unless you reject the principles of free market capitalism.

“Why aren’t people flocking to Canada for free medical care?Or the UK?”

Would work for you, would it? Go to one of those countries to cuckoo their health care?

Forgive me, but that seems somewhat unethical to me. I’m sure you are correct that it’s not happening, though. People who need the coverage wouldn’t be able to afford to travel off shore for health care. Those who can afford health care sometimes do go off shore for it, but they can afford to do what they like.

I hope that none of those countries would just treat tourists for free, just because they want it. They must have some kind of budget controls, and that would be the first one I would institute – free care for constituents, not for tourists.

Maybe you should be asking why people from other countries don’t afford themselves of our superiour health care.

““We have to pass it to find out whats in it.””

Sorry, that’s not new. Been going on for a long time. GOP and Dem administrations both.

Some of us think that no bill should ever be voted on unread and maybe particularly unpublished.

Regardless of which party is in power.

“I wish we could just go to single payer like the rest of the civilized world, and our elderly – Medicare, and our Vets. "

Medicare might be the best this country has to offer, but it is neither free nor cheap. And vets aren’t exactly getting great care, either.

Single payer would be by far the best, but both sides of the aisle will stonewall it forever. If by chance it should slip in, they will undoubtedly manage to cock it up, because no part of our power structure really wants any such thing. Sure, there are a few – very few – politicians who aren’t afraid of the term. They aren’t enough to change anything.

Obama was one of them who was talking single payer care. We know what became of that.

“I believe you meant they are “signing up for Medicaid”. The free one!”

Whatever he meant, those programs have been rejected by more than one state. Here’s MO’s schedule and policy:

The amount you save depends on your family size and how much money your family earns. In general, if your income falls within the following ranges you’ll qualify to save money on your premiums in 2014. The lower your income within these ranges, the more you’ll save. (The amounts below are based on 2013 numbers and are likely to be slightly higher in 2014.)

    $11,490 to $45,960 for individuals$15,510 to $62,040 for a family of 2$19,530 to $78,120 for a family of 3$23,550 to $94,200 for a family of 4$27,570 to $110,280 for a family of 5$31,590 to $126,360 for a family of 6$35,610 to $142,440 for a family of 7$39,630 to $158,520 for a family of 8

If your income falls below the amounts shown, you may qualify for coverage under your state’s Medicaid program. But if your state is not expanding Medicaid in 2014—and you don’t qualify for Medicaid under your state’s rules—you can’t get lower costs on Marketplace coverage based on your income. You’d have to pay the entire cost of a Marketplace insurance plan.

In some other states, low income earners may be able to get medicaid.

    I wouldn’t hold my breath.

“They are. There’s a parade of cars with American plates outside every Canadian free clinic.”

So … it’s not good enough for them to sabotage and obstruct US health care, they have to extend their generosity to the health care systems of other countries.

So generous with the resources of others..
