The CR gives the government time to figure out how to live within its means. Just like the last time. And the time before that. As always, another opportunity to kick the can, suggest that 12 people can do the job that 435 people were elected to do, and then be surprised when those 12 won’t agree to do anything. Deja vu, all over again.
Despite the desire of some to place their side of the aisle on a pedestal, both parties have brought us to this point in an effort to keep themselves in their career positions as “politician”. Subsidies were given to companies in order to help them succeed and become drivers of our economy and those subsidies were never repealed. Entitlements were given to people who for many reasons, most not of their making, were being left behind by society but those entitlements were not accompanied with education and training and common sense ways for people to get out of the system and now the system is as self perpetuating as is the entitlements given to the wealthy.Now.. a moment of sarcasm and facetiousness…..If we are going to repeal the ACA, let’s also repeal laws requiring car insurance and homeowner’s insurance. People are never going to get sick, people won’t have car accidents, and mortgaged homes won’t ever have fires or storm damage. Why is gov’t getting involved with these decisions of personal responsibility? Why should I have to pay three thousand dollars a year when nothing every happens to my house or car?Everyone who doesn’t die in their first accident or illness is going to go to a doctor. It is more likely that everyone reading this has been to a doctor than it is that they had to file a claim for a car accident or home incident. There will be exceptions, but the odds are…We need affordable health care. We cannot keep paying the “tax” placed on us and insurance companies by people who go to emergency rooms without health care. We need preventative health care to reduce ER visits and to educate people on how to prevent expensive health issues like diabetes, heart disease, etc.Our nation cannot afford to keep treating people on an emergency basis or for preventable diseases. It is too expensive and with intelligent planning, unnecessary.Respectfully,C.
This health-care act is unionizing insurance companies, forcing the poor to pay premiums they can’t afford or be penalized in taxes later. This puts insurance companies in a very very powerful position. My dental “cleaning” cost $980 of which $910 was “written off”. If I didn’t have insurance? It’d cost me $70. True story.
IF the “debt” had doubled since Obama “took over” the budget process, it would be $24 TRILLION, as at the close of "W"s last budget year it was $11.9 Trillion, rounding up to $12 Trillion. The “deficits” HAVE been going down, as the debt continues to rise, based on interest from previous obligations, and payments for Bush’s wars still are coming due. Federal employment and “government” employment across the country is DOWN, while PRIVATE employement is up. The employment figures aren’t great, but certainly better than the disasters in employment and economics that “W” left us with at the end of 2008.
