Already happened. The Baltimore Orioles angered football fans by not letting the Baltimore Ravens play their sesaon opener at home, a couple of weeks ago. (Hey, the Os scheduled first!)

The really big guys wearing helmets and armor might have a more…. defensible argument than the folks dressed for casual day. Though the do have bats. Head butts vs. “double headers”?C.

Typical airline operation. The pitching rubber is 45 degrees off.

The pitcher is hurling 98 MPH fast balls at the dugout.

@bhinkleTrue, Orioles and Ravens don’t share a stadium… but they share the parking lot. So the baseball fans would have gotten in the way of the tailgating. And THAT is why the Ravens wouldn’t play at home.

I would like to see mixed doubles. Blend the teams. Put a linebacker at second base. Instead of tagging the runner for an out, tackle him. Alternately throw footballs and baseballs. So many opportunities to improvise!

True, but the two stadia share parking facilities. It’s impossible to play a football game and a baseball game at the same time in Baltimore. That’s why the Ravens opened in Denver.

Back in the old days, when both NY football teams actually played in NY, the Giants played at Yankee stadium, and the Jets played at Shea stadium. On those occasions that a baseball team made the playoffs, and needed the field after a home football game, the grounds keepers had their hands full repairing the torn up field.

For a mere $50 fee, you can choose your own position on the field!

Not to mention any airline by name (AA), but it’s not just overbooking. Sometimes you get bumped for cargo. Yup, they fly with empty seats because the cargo’s travel plans are less flexible than yours. No wonder they went bankrupt.

By the way, the earlier you book, the more likely you are to get bumped. They toss the cheapest seats first. Remember you are not a passenger, you are a seat or a fare.

Some of the blame for overbooking should be laid at the feet of the “customers” that make reservations and then cancel them at the last minute, leaving the airlines with empty and unpaid seats. The airline charges the customer who then writes their credit card and will have a so called good excuse for not paying any charges. The card sides with the cardholder and the airline loses the revenue for those seats. I am not in any way an airline employe, but I am a businessman who has ordered something for a customer who does not pick up the item and then issues a chargeback to the credit card company to get their deposit back. This happens too many times and the business is stuck with something they did not need eg, a gold ring, size 13, with I love you forever engraved in some weird font. Costs 20% to return it to the goldsmith.. too many examples to note here.So quit blaming airlines and realize why businesses do what they do. Bet this gets a lot of grief !

@ danreo1952: The Tea Party has become like William Shatner’s (Yes, that William Shatner!) character in the movie The Intruder. They come into any forum that they can find with the express purpose of starting fights, sowing discord, wrecking friendships, and just generally trying as hard as they possibly can to leave a path of chaos and destruction behind them. And then they smile at the terror that they have wrought and go in search of the next forum to victimize. They are nihilists and rhetorical terrorists. Nothing more, nothing less.

And if the airlines ….or TSA sent in drug sniffing dogs the game might be over before the first play…..or the dogs would need rehab!
