He heard a rumor that I was hiring hands for my galleon The Irish Rover. But Morty’s naval experience consists of bathtubs and kiddie pools.

Morty was turned down by the Navy, Coast Guard and the Sea Scouts. This is it for him. Go down to the Tiki, Morty and hang out with Lingquist, that is as close as you’re going to get.

Linguist, not Lingquist unless Lingquist is there too. Hey I got a D in typing in High School, couple that with a slight case of Halfheimers and there you go.

“I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky,And all I ask is a tall drink… and a straw to sip it by,

And the wheel’s kick and the wind’s song and the white sail’s shaking,Are all a dream… in the Tiki bar…and say, what’s Susan baking?"

Ballard Street is a dreamy place…. where people can build pillars and forts, and fly around with propeller chairs….and let their minds wander over the high seas, or the high mountains…and then go home to dinner.

    I love it here!

Before you go Morty, you’d better swap the deck (floor) in the galley (kitchen).

@Charles SmithCharley, I’ve been swapping decks for years. Care to play poker with me ?Actually, I’ve been told that I haven’t been playing with a full deck for a long time, now.As far as swabbing the decks, that’s what I have a crew for – that’s why we call ‘em swabbies ! When I hired ’em I told ’em they’d really clean up in the pirate…er… privateer… um … acquisitions trade.

I read at sometime in the past that swabbing the deck went beyond cleanliness. Back in the day, when ships were made entirely of wood, the last thing you wanted was for the planks in your deck to do was dry out and start cracking.Hence, you wet the decks on a regular basis.

I’ve no idea what that bunny is doing (really) but I’ve heard of some things involving fire.

I was just reading my FB and one of my hawk friends posted one that evoked comments that I wanted to share here. I thought this guy fits right in at Ballard Street with duds from the Costume Shop and Real Estate Emporium, but someone said he looks like a runner-up in RuPaul’s Drag Race andthen someone else thought it was a race with CARS!

Forgive me for whispering…. but everybody seems to be sleeping…..

Just on my way to the Tiki to make sure all’s well with Fenton and Sid…. and leave some receipts for the Monkey.

I ran a lot of errands today…. while I was at it, I did some shopping for part of the Sunday dinner special.Vegetables, cos the Monkey never ever buys any.

(Don’t worry Monkey…. no broccoli.) (Why is it broccoli, not brocolli?…. Maybe pcolli knows.)

Happy3 … love the pirate bunnies! Especially the one “borrowed” from Durer.Beautiful job somebody did on that.

And Shika… yes, it was La Bamba.

But my poet pal isn’t Lord Tennyson… Goodness, Al would never hang out with the likes of me!

My friend is John Masefield.A little more contemporary…. sort of.

    Oh…. Hi Fenton…. Sid…Everything OK?

Quiet out on the street tonight.I’m not staying long…. just checking in.

I’ll be back before my shift time to do a Sunday special..And Bev’s coming back!

Fenton… if Stel comes in, and she did a magazine this week, would you ask her to please leave me 5 or 6 copies…. here or at the salon?Besides the one that came in my Bugle.

Tell her I have a pie for her.Thanks.

Of course…. lots of pie for the Tiki.

    G’night!

There aren’t many veterans who still look to the sea as a way to escape. But Morty does. There aren’t many veterans who can still wear part of their old uniform, but Morty can. Morty married young, very young and Shirley even younger. Neither one had ever heard of polka dot madness. It wouldn’t have matter if they had; they were young, invincible and headed out to San Diego, home of the Pacific Fleet. Shirley would work in the arms industry and Morty would win the war. They couldn’t afford a sleeper, so they stood between the cars and watched the moon scatter glitter over the southwest desert. The porters left the door windows open, even though it was against the railroad regulations, it was a different time then, love and war were in the air and that changed everything. Two coffees and three doughnuts, twenty five cents, but who cared, they were together and even though the war raged, they knew they would be together forever. And so it was and so it is. Shirley is having fun, it’s good natured, if not well intended. Morty is not listening; his mind is lost in the China Sea. If he left right after lunch, he could ride the bus all the way to the bay, be on the dock by three thirty. If he was really lucky, he could find a merchant out bounded, sign up and on board by dinner. No, maybe he will wait; next week will be soon enough. Rusty Boy is barking again, guess it’s treat time.

OOOoh! I see we have a new issue (as I was hoping) I want to get busy and do my weights before I fix breakfast (and just looked – it’s 9AM). I’ll be back to read the Bugle and have a drink (before or more likely after breakfast and vitamins).

This is weird! I left this tab open while I worked out with my weights and then made and ate a big breakfast (and even put on a pair of jeans) – ALL ready to read the Bugle! Is there no LINK??

Was I deceived? I was really looking forward to it.

So, Fenton, just pour me a double Beefeaters with a little rocks (and ice water on the side) and I’ll chill while drawing a few sketches for my next work.

Baronial Court tonight has something to do with cave men and wearing fur, but none that I’d want to wear here in Phoenix (currently 100F) I have a sleeveless leopard print top with a few flowers (some teal) so I’ll wear that with teal skinny jeans. I doubt I’ll be called to court, but I’ll stash a leopard caftan in my trunk JIC (to throw on top).

I fell asleep listening to an audio of an article I needed to read for class tomorrow. I woke up at 9:30 pm. I thought it was morning already and that I had missed class I hope I fall asleep again. I am not feeling well. My stomach is upset. I missed church this morning because I felt awful. Then I felt better and went for a long walk. Now I don’t feel well again.
