Sadly, some schools here in America are so violent that the kids pretty much need to come to school armed if they’re to survive the day.[]I myself actually put extra weight in my scripture case so that, if I had to, I could bludgeon people with it.
It seems pretty clear that the “gun free zone” is working great at our schools. They only people with guns are the shooters and they don’t have to worry about someone else shooting them. Pretty good deal if you are a killer. Not so good if you are a student and no one is armed to protect you. Instead of the “gun free zone” sign, every school should have signs that read: “teachers and staff are armed’”.
Don’t pay attention to the tea party conservatives on this page. They can’t understand anybody else having a different opinion. They think they are always right. They only listen to themselves. They are in their own world.
The small print should warn people to sit near an emergency exit door for when a mad person with a gun bursts in and make a quick escape as they wouldn’t be able to protect themselves otherwise.
Can we all agree that there are some people who shouldn’t be allowed access to weapons? Are our only choices “no guns” or “everybody arm to the teeth”?
We could start with requiring those who ask “why don’t we enforce the laws already on the books?” to answer their own questions. Maybe the answer is that they want no gun laws enforced.
Doesn’t matter what the answers are to the questions. We love our guns, some of us feel more secure to have them, so NOTHING will ever change. Why argue about it?
I Play One On TV: Like a lot of civilized countries, you can have one rifle and one shotgun – all registered, licensed, and used strictly for hunting and target shooting. It is concealable handguns that are restricted.
Look at it this way.[]My high school was the site of a Christian youth group named “Knock The Devil In The Head Ministries.” []This was also the same school where it was common to walk past sheets of plywood that were being employed to cover up holes in the walls. []And the same school where one of the campus police officers once showed up to work with a hangover. I was on the receiving end of a lecture delivered by said cop about the “evils” of tequila.
The government is buying up guns. This is not a fct, but an opinion. The Democrats are wrong on this because if it comes down to them wanting to overthrowing the government, only GOP will have guns. Sure we are a blood-thirtsty lot, it’s too bad about all the violence, but think about the what ifs.
Omnius hasn’t lived in fear. That actually sounds pretty good to me, too (but, sadly, I’m another of those paranoid gun owners).I wish I had Omnius’ cojones.
It says a lot about a person when his avatar is someone (something?) pointing a gun.If that’s the only way you can command any respect, it says much about how little you are.
Molon: can you kill 12 plus people in a tightly packed crowd, or room, in less than ten seconds with a sword? (You don’t say what size magazine you have in your Glock.)
Simple fact: even the NRA propaganda time and again shows that REGULATED firearms are rarely used in criminal actions, it is the UNregulated firearms that are used in the majority of crimes, although spousal homicides are often committed with “registered” firearms and suicides are typically with “legal” guns. Oh, right, most of our mass killings have also been with “legal” high capacity firearms.
Background checks, and sensible regulations on firearms purchase DO reduce (but not eliminate) access to firearms, but the system does need work and improvements. I have a driver’s license and a concealed weapons permit, and had to pass “tests” for both, and don’t see anyone coming to seize my cars, or my guns.
It is the paranoids who make me nervous when they boast of how many guns they have, and that nobody will take them away. It’s also interesting how many of them have no military, or law enforcement background, and haven’t a clue about the “ethics” of firearms use as deadly force.
You seem quite convinced that your Glock 20 somehow makes you invincible. Check the statistics about how many people are killed with their own guns. You think you’re tough, but if it’s the gun making you tough, then you’ll fold up when you are unarmed (by circumstances or force). If you have to rely on a firearm for your safety, you will never truly be safe.
No, thank you. I am sure you are much more familiar with scripture than I ever care to be. Maybe that helps to explain that, for all the good he is supposed to have done, he is supported by wearing a cross: an instrument of torture and death. It would seem to me that people are constantly reminded about how man is ready to be inhumane to his fellow man, but they are not often reminded of how to be kind, so the choice of symbol escaped me. Thank you for helping me understand.
Law abiding gun owners did not stop what almost became another Newtown. It was a smart and brave woman in that school’s front office who saw what was about to happen and hat the wits to stall for time as well as the good fortune that the killer hadn’t already started shooting. So please, let’s stop the nonsense about how heat- packing ordinary citizens would have prevented this near tragedy as well as all the other massacres that have torn the fabric of this society apart.
