How do you propose to “put them to work”?

The house zeroed out Food Stamps, while boosting money for the fraud-ridden agricultural subsidies program, which a number of wealthy GOP members of congress have their hands in. Apparently, needing food because you can’t find a job (or are a child, or can’t work) is evil and needs to be punished; but it’s okay to use any amount to pay the rich for not growing corn. It’s disgusting, and completely shows the lie to their supposed concern about deficits and fairness and not rewarding slackers. It’s all about rewarding themselves and their rich donors.

“Conservatives want to put them to work.”… including the kids. Who needs those stupid child labor laws? I’m sure putting more kids to work at $4.25 an hour will put people back to work.

The war on poverty has done nothing more than produce more poverty.

Agreed. Anyone visiting Miami please go visit Downtown in the night time. It’s exactly like onguard’s picture.

My mother grew up in circumstances not much better than those in the picture. But the New Deal (and a lot of hard work) made a big difference.
