Fracking has given us a relatively inexpensive source of clean natural gas, made us less dependent upon foreign oil, and created thousands of jobs. Even Ed Rendell recognized that much.
If private enterprise ran everything (openly, not like now) none would be sued or run out of business. They would just buy everyone off who disagreed, or destroy them. At least government has to make a pretense of caring about the voters.
