@masterskrainAs much as I hate to help the hijacking of a comic strip, I can’t resist playing devil’s advocate on this one…. At least with alcohol and cigarettes being legal, we get public-service-announcement posters telling pregnant women not to drink or smoke. (They’re quite common in public women’s restrooms, among other places.) Maybe if pot were legalized, it would become okay to publicize fetal marijuana syndrome, which I must admit I’d never heard of.

The whole “medical marijuana” thing is a scam – the only relief it provides is intoxication – you can get the same thing from painkillers or consuming alcohol. The medical marijuana advocates merely want to get high, and they should be honest about it. Personally, I think they should legalize it, sell it and tax it, same as alcohol and tobacco.

That’s not fair. I was going to ask @Nabuquduriuzhur to cite his sources, as I was unable to find any information from serious sources about this “fetal marijuana (or cannabis) syndrome”, other than those that say that there is no evidence that the syndrome actually exists.  But then again let’s not forget that @Nabuquduriuzhur has a history of making assertions that are then proven to be false. This “fetal marijuana syndrome” reminds me about the huge “crack babies” epidemic in the 1980’s which turned out to be essentially non-existent.

Our “scientist” has no sources…lol. Well aside from the same source that makes him believe the world is only 10,000 yrs old, tops.

The only article I found was that studies indicated that marijuana use affects the fetus in the same manner as alcohol or smoking and for the exact samer reasons. Basically, if you’re pregnant, or trying to get pregnant, don’t drink, smoke or use pot.

As much pot was smoked freely around the UW campus while I was in grad school there, I’d think they’d rather debunk the syndrome myself.

Here is why Medical marijuana is not a scam. When the addictive medications wear off, there is a period where the pain starts seeping in..If you smoke a bowl of the good stuff, and watch a Marx Brother’s movie, you are distracted from the pain. You’re to busy laughing to pay attention to the inrelenting pain. If you are reminded of it, the pain still hurts…So shut up and let me laugh instead of cry…

Medical marijuana is NOT a scam. Spend some time in chemo with and without it, then tell me it makes no difference. In addition to alleviating some of the side effects, used in combination with meditation, it allows you to not fight the medication and let the drug work as it’s supposed to. This also applies to use of opiate pain relievers: if it allows me to use less narcotics, I call that a legitimate medical benefit. Add to that thousands of people with other chronic pain issues, glaucoma, hypertension, and numerous other conditions, well, it’s just unavoidable to call you on BS.
