It’s too bad that dad isn’t a barrel of fun to be with. He is probably bitter, exhausted and broke. In addition, he’s missing some adult female company. This is really an artificial situation they thrust these kids into. But it’s important for the kid to get to know her dad. And Dad has to be sociable. This means having concern for the kid. But the only real solution is to be careful about who to marry. I would like to teach that class!

Thanks for that URL! I’ll be using that one fairly often, I suspect.

I read somewhere that PM is one of the richest celebs in the world, net worth around forty Billion dollars. I think he’ll be ok, with a little help from his friends.

Yeah, I thought the same thing. But maybe she just doesn’t want to leave her friends. Must be hard.

My daughter was eleven when her dad went off in search of greener pastures, and the back-and-forth thing was just murderous on her. One day she was happily prattling on to me about all she was looking forward to doing with her friends that day, and when I pointed out that she’d be going to her dad’s instead, her face crumpled and she said, “I HATE going to Daddy’s! I HATE going back and forth!” It wasn’t that she didn’t love her daddy, but that his living elsewhere disrupted other things that were also important to her. It is hard for children, no matter how famously adjustible they are, and parents should be more attentive to that.

What sorts of things would you include? (Serious question, as this is a huge issue for many people, so I’m really asking.)
